Phrases like, "adding a pop of color", and "you need a little color in your life" rang very true in my wardrobe. I live for a wonderful vibrant colors!   While I must admit, I am a lover of the color black for all seasons, largely due to the fact that it's a blank canvas for an array of colors, a flattering garment in an amazing color is EVERYTHING! I dedicate this post to one of my favorite silhouettes, peplum, and the color orange!!

Worn by many women, peplum is seen attached to the waistline of bodycon skirts, dresses, tops, and jackets. The bias cut flounce of fabric works to create an hourglass figure for the curvy woman.  My secret to wearing peplum is in the fit and cut of the garment.  I prefer the exaggerated cut of peplum.  The more structured and stiff the peplum, the more exaggerated my waistline appears. Because peplums come in all types of shapes and silhouettes, the perfect fit calls for us to know our body.

For hourglass figures: Peplum accentuates & exaggerates the already proportionate figure.

For top-heavy figures: Peplum adds the perfect amount of bulkiness to the bottom half of the body thus creating a waistline & camouflaging the tummy.

For bottom-heavy figures: Peplum pulls attention away from and camouflages the butt and hip area.

Peplum tops can be found in just about any department store of your choice, and are available at several different price points!
